Herman D. Buckman was charged with and subsequently found guilty of, pursuant to jury verdict, the first degree murder of Denise Stawkowski, and use of a weapon to commit a felony. He was also determined to be a habitual criminal. On March 2, 1989, Buckman was sentenced to life imprisonment on the murder conviction and to 20 to 60 years' imprisonment on the weapons charge, as enhanced by the habitual criminal statute, to be served consecutively to the...
