The Knott County Board of Education ("Board") operates nine public schools in Knott County, Kentucky. Knott County is located in an area of Eastern Kentucky which has experienced a serious problem with prescription drug abuse, as well as other illegal substances, such as marijuana, cocaine and methamphetamine.
