Marco Johnson pled guilty under North Carolina v. Alford, 400 U.S. 25, 91 S.Ct. 160, 27 L.Ed.2d 162 (1970), to numerous offenses and was sentenced to serve 20 years. Claiming that he did not act knowingly and voluntarily and that he received ineffective assistance of counsel, Johnson moved to withdraw his guilty plea.
