Defendant Randoll Johnson appeals the dismissal of his petition for postconviction relief. This procedural posture aside, defendant's appeal involves the validity of the trial court's order placing him on probation following his plea of guilty to aggravated possession of a stolen motor vehicle. For the reasons that follow, we vacate defendant's eight-year sentence for that offense and remand his case for the resumption...
