Appellant Lawrence Scott Dame was convicted of five counts of murder in the first degree, in violation of Minn.Stat. § 609.185(a)(1) (2002), in connection with the deaths of his sister, Donna Mimbach, her husband, Todd Mimbach, and their three children, Daniel Mimbach, age 22 months; Amber Duval, age 9; and John Mimbach, age 12.
