Defendant Luqman Rasheed was charged by bill of information on October 31, 2000, with one count of aggravated battery, in violation of La. R.S. 14:34. After a jury trial, the defendant was found guilty of the lesser included charge of second-degree battery. The defendant was sentenced to four years in the Department of Corrections. Two of the four years were suspended with active probation and restitution of two thousand dollars to the victim...
