This is an action in tort for loss of baggage and jewelry by Joseph and Marie Ippolito against Hospitality Management Associates and Holiday Inns, Inc. (collectively "Innkeeper"). The jury awarded the Ippolitos $210,000. After the trial, Innkeeper moved for judgment notwithstanding the verdict and new trial nisi remittitur, arguing that its compliance with the South Carolina Innkeeper's Statute either shielded it from liability or limited its liability...
