Appellant Robert Leon was charged by indictment with the felony offense of theft of property with a value of $1,500 or more but less than $20,000. Tex. Pen.Code Ann. § 31.03(a), (e)(4)(A) (Vernon Supp.2003). Appellant pleaded not guilty and waived his right to trial by jury.
