Ghodratollah Sarrafi, M.D., participated in a health maintenance organization (HMO) of Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC). On June 3, 1996, Sarrafi received the results of a test that showed a dangerous mass in the heart of Sofia Beniamin, one of Sarrafi's patients. Eight days later Sofia suffered a stroke that left her unable to speak. Sofia's daughter, as her guardian, and Sofia's husband sued Sarrafi and HCSC...
