After pleading guilty to burglary and misdemeanor obstruction, Johnny Lee Stephens was sentenced as a recidivist to 20 years, the maximum sentence for burglary. On appeal he contends that the trial court erred in concluding that it had no discretion to sentence Stephens as a recidivist to anything other than the maximum period of confinement.
