Opinion by Chief Justice MORRISS.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. on March 18, 2001, after hours of drinking, Gary Lynn George failed to negotiate a curve on South Lake Drive in Texarkana, driving his one-ton wrecker truck across the centerline and colliding with a Mazda 626 driven by Jessica Noel Smyth, killing her on impact.
