After a jury trial, defendant-appellant Dunn Beckett was convicted of one count of possessing a sawed-off shotgun in violation of 26 U.S.C. §§ 5841, 5861(d), and 5871 (2002). Police officers discovered the shotgun in plain view at Beckett's residence while executing a state court warrant seeking evidence of Beckett's involvement in two murders.
