I. INTRODUCTION

The State charged Appellant Larry Karnes ("Karnes") with robbery by threats. The indictment included enhancement and habitual offender notices based upon two prior felony convictions. Karnes pleaded not guilty to the charged offense and true to the enhancement and habitual offender paragraphs. A jury convicted Karnes and assessed punishment at 55 years' confinement.
