Stanley J. Vaska was convicted of sexual abuse of a minor in the first degree1 for sexually penetrating his niece, T.E., who was about three years old at the time of the alleged offense. The only evidence the State had to establish that Vaska committed the sexual abuse were T.E.'s hearsay statements, which she made shortly after the alleged offense.
