A jury found defendant, Patrick Wayne Terrell, guilty as charged on one count of possession of cocaine, in violation of La. R.S. 40:967 C. Terrell was adjudicated a fourth felony offender and given the mandatory sentence of life imprisonment at hard labor without benefits. After the trial court denied Terrell's motion to reconsider the sentence, the defendant appealed his sentence. He complains that the term is disproportionate to the severity of the offense...
