On October 19, 2001, Lisa Mack, a licensed practical nurse, sued her employer, Baptist Health System, Inc. ("BHS"), which operates a number of health-care facilities including the Shelby Ridge Nursing Home ("Shelby Ridge") where Mack was employed. Mack also sued the Alabama Department of Industrial Relations ("DIR") and other fictitiously named defendants. As finally amended, Mack's complaint presented claims against BHS alleging refusal to pay workers...
