The defendant, Lavelle Myers, also known as Lavelle Coleman, was charged by grand jury indictment with second degree murder, a violation of La.R.S. 14:30.1. A jury convicted him of the charge, and the trial court sentenced him to life imprisonment at hard labor without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.
