In November 1997, the automobile of Paulette Blaylock was repossessed and sold by Johns Hopkins Federal Credit Union ("the credit union"). After the sale, the credit union instituted suit in the District Court for Baltimore City, seeking a deficiency judgment against Ms. Blaylock of approximately $8,200.
