Defendant, Gary Wayne Brooks, was charged with second degree murder in violation of La. R.S. 14:30.1. Defendant was tried by a jury and convicted as charged. He was subsequently sentenced to serve life imprisonment at hard labor without benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence.
