On June 7, 2000, the Jefferson Parish District Attorney filed a bill of information charging defendant, John Davis, with possession of cocaine, in violation of La. R.S. 40:967 C. Defendant was arraigned on June 9, 2000, and pled not guilty. On December 15, 2000, the trial court heard and denied defendant's motion to suppress evidence. That same day, trial commenced.
