The defendant, Shanmarcus A. Butler, was convicted by jury of armed robbery and attempted second degree murder. He was sentenced to serve 25 years at hard labor, without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence on the armed robbery conviction and 45 years at hard labor without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence on the conviction for attempted second degree murder, with the sentences to be served consecutively.
