After a 35-year marriage, the parties were divorced in 1992. The divorce judgment required Jimmy K. Baggett ("the husband") to pay Patricia R. Baggett ("the wife") periodic alimony in the amount of $3,000 per month. The judgment also provided:

"As security for the husband's alimony obligation, he is directed to maintain the two American General Life Insurance Policies in the amounts of $50,000 and...
