Donald Brown was indicted by a grand jury for the first degree murder of Kathryn Rankin in violation of La. R.S. 14:30. After a bench trial, defendant was found guilty of manslaughter, a violation of La. R.S. 14:31, and was sentenced to serve twenty years at hard labor, with credit for time served.
