This case allows us to clarify the time limits in cases where career offenders indirectly attack their federal sentences by first collaterally attacking their prior state convictions. Federal prisoner Robert Johnson brought such an indirect attack on his federal sentence, and he now appeals the district court's denial of his § 2255 petition as untimely.
