On October 4, 1993, Petitioner George Everette Sibley, Jr. was convicted in the Circuit Court of Lee County, Alabama, of capital murder. He was sentenced to death by the court following a unanimous recommendation of the jury. On September 30, 2002, the Supreme Court of Alabama set an execution date of November 7, 2002.
