The State charged defendant, Esmon Vinci Jones, with three counts of aggravated battery (720 ILCS 5/12-4(a), (b)(8), (b)(10) (West 2000)), one count of robbery (720 ILCS 5/18-1 (West 2000)), and one count of mob action (720 ILCS 5/25-1(a)(1) (West 2000)).
