The defendant, Jerry L. Hayes, was charged by bill of information with theft, a violation of La. R.S. 14:67. He entered a plea of not guilty. After a trial by jury, the defendant was found guilty as charged. Upon the denial of motions for a new trial and for post verdict judgment of acquittal, the defendant was adjudicated a third felony offender on March 21, 1997, under the provisions of La. R.S. 15:529.1...
