We granted leave to appeal to consider whether an order reimbursing the state for the cost of caring for defendant, a prison inmate, violates the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), 29 U.S.C. § 1001 et seq. The trial court ordered defendant to receive his pension benefits at his prison address and directed the warden to appropriate the funds from defendant...
