Defendant was tried capitally at the 11 August 1997 session of Superior Court, Sampson County. The jury found defendant guilty of six counts of discharging a firearm into occupied property and further found defendant guilty of the first-degree murder of his wife, Ronita E. Nobles. The trial court sentenced defendant to consecutive sentences of forty to fifty-seven months each for four of the six counts of discharging a firearm into occupied property...
