In these two cases, which we have consolidated for decision, the Ocean Atlantic Development Corporation and the Ocean Atlantic Chicago Corporation ("Ocean Atlantic") tendered letter offers to the owners of undeveloped land that Ocean Atlantic wished to purchase and the owners signed those offers. Each offer expressly anticipated that the parties would, in due course, sign a contract for the purchase and sale of the properties....
