In this case, the plaintiff, Mickey DeWayne Mills, appeals the judgment of the trial court naming certain persons primary custodians of his grandchildren. For the following reasons, we affirm in part, reverse in part, and render.

FACTUAL AND PROCEDURAL BACKGROUND

Kristy Mills gave birth to three children, Jacob and Macy, whose father is John Hardy, and Brennon, whose father is Russell Lippman. Tragically, Kristy was murdered
