The appellants ("Debtors") in this bankruptcy appeal were debtors in cases arising under chapter 7 of the Bankruptcy Code. Each of the Debtors retained one of the defendant law firms ("Law Firms") to prepare and file a bankruptcy petition, and those petitions were filed. Before the petition filings, though, the Debtors signed standard form retainer agreements requiring them to pay the Law Firms' initial fees in monthly...
