Petitioner's child was born in January 1991. Shortly thereafter, she and the child's father went to New Jersey to live with respondent, the child's paternal grandmother. After six months, petitioner and the child moved to Chenango County. Each summer thereafter, the child spent a month with respondent. In 1997, the child went to live with the father at respondent's home. Thereafter, a consent order awarded joint custody to the parents with the father...
