¶ 1. On November 20, 1997, Michael Sheffield was indicted on charges of burglary of a dwelling and grand larceny. Sheffield was tried and found guilty of burglary of a dwelling and sentenced to life imprisonment in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections as a habitual offender. Sheffield appealed, and the supreme court affirmed Sheffield's conviction. Sheffield v. State, 749 So.2d 123
