PROCEDURAL HISTORY

¶ 1. On May 16, 2002, a jury in the Circuit Court of Lee County found Curtis David Hawthorne guilty of manslaughter by culpable negligence. Hawthorne was subsequently sentenced to serve fifteen years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections with seven years suspended, and he was ordered to make restitution in the amount of $325,000.
