On July 7, 1999, while traveling on Interstate 80 through Northern Indiana, Ramdeo Sampat was killed in a truck accident. Subsequently, Security Storage Company (Security Storage) and Vanliner Insurance Company (Vanliner Insurance) sued Adell Sampat, Ramdeo's widow, for indemnification on all claims arising from the accident.
