Defendants Jason Slater and Christian Morley belonged to an organization called "Pirates With Attitudes" (PWA), a group dedicated to the unauthorized dissemination of copyrighted software over the Internet. The FBI disbanded PWA and on May 4, 2000, a grand jury indicted Slater and Morley, along with 15 others, for a single count of conspiracy to commit copyright infringement in violation of 17 U.S.C. § 506(a)(2), 18 U.S.C. §...
