Appellee Adrien Lamont Townsend, then age sixteen (DOB: December 29, 1979) was charged in the Jefferson District Court, Juvenile Division with robbery in the first degree. Pursuant to KRS 640.010(2)(c), he was transferred to the Jefferson Circuit Court as a "youthful offender" to be proceeded against as an adult.
