The petitioners, DaimlerChrysler Corporation, Ford Motor Company, and General Motors Corporation (the "Auto Makers") sought writs of mandamus from this court, directing the district court to recall its remand orders. They also sought to have these cases and future friction products claims involving the petitioners assigned to a different district judge on remand.
