Justice GREIMAN delivered the opinion of the court:

Defendant Cuahatemoc Hernandez was charged with first degree murder and attempted first degree murder. After a jury trial, he was found guilty on both counts and was sentenced to 44 years' imprisonment for first degree murder and a concurrent term of 6 years for the attempted first degree murder charge.
