On trial for murder in the first degree, assault with intent to rape, armed burglary, armed assault with intent to murder, and assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, the defendant, Juan Torres, also known as "Johnny," asserted that he was not guilty by reason of insanity. The jury rejected this contention and found him guilty of all charges.
