On December 15, 2000, defendant was charged in an eight-count indictment with four counts of sexual abuse in the first degree, two counts of sexual abuse in the second degree and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, said charges arising out of an incident that took place between defendant and two young girls, then ages 11 and 9, at defendant's home in the Town of Maryland, Otsego County.
