Plaintiff Jeffrey Johnson and his father Dr. Gerald Johnson ("inventors") are the co-inventors of U.S. Patent No. 5,655,545 ("the '545 patent"). The '545 patent claims a method of surgical dissection of body tissue. Dr. Gerald Johnson previously assigned his rights in the '545 patent to his late wife Lana Davis Johnson.
