This is a direct appeal by the defendant, Romel Metteh Abu-Fakher, from his conviction for the first-degree murder of his wife, Carol Abu-Fakher. He was sentenced to life imprisonment with no parole for 25 years followed by 24 months of postrelease supervision. His appeal comes before this court pursuant to K.S.A. 22-3601(b)(1), the direct appeal statute for first-degree murder convictions and sentences...
