Matthew Glen Goins was charged with a single count of second degree assault with intent to commit indecent liberties. The State also charged that the crime was committed with sexual motivation. By way of general verdict, a jury found Goins guilty of second degree assault as charged. However, in the special verdict, the jury declined to find that Goins committed the offense with sexual motivation. Goins argues that these irreconcilably inconsistent verdicts...
