The defendant was convicted by a jury of receiving stolen property under G. L. c. 266, § 60.1 The facts presented in the jury trial were these. At 4:20 A.M. on November 8, 1998, while walking on a street in the Dorchester section of Boston, the defendant was stopped by two passing police officers who thought he had something hidden under his arm.
