[¶ 1] In 1995, Steven R. Barela (appellant) pled guilty to the second-degree murder of his wife. In 2000, he filed a motion to withdraw his guilty plea, primarily due to the claimed ineffectiveness of his trial counsel. The district court denied this motion.
