In the course of his employment, Brent Stubbe was injured in an automobile accident that was caused by an underinsured driver. Stubbe sought underinsured motorist benefits from his personal insurer, Guidant Mutual Insurance Company (Guidant), under both his automobile policy and his personal umbrella policy.
