Defendant Timothy Lionell White was indicted on 25 October 1999 for the first-degree murder of Evvie Lane Vaughn. On 7 August 2000 defendant entered a plea of guilty to the charge of first-degree murder. After a capital sentencing proceeding, the jury recommended that defendant be sentenced to death; and the trial court entered judgment accordingly.
