Based on a shooting that occurred at an apartment in the Jamaica Plain section of Boston, a jury in the Superior Court convicted the defendant of deliberately premeditated murder in the first degree of Luis Bautista, armed assault with intent to murder Shirley Suarez, unlawful possession of a firearm, and unlawful possession of ammunition.1 Represented by new counsel on appeal, the defendant argues that (1) a new trial is warranted...
